Thoughts on Aaron Ramsey Transfer

Aaron Ramsey is set to sign for Juventus in the summer when his Arsenal contract expires, he’ll join Juventus as a free agent and I believe this is a huge mistake for the football club. Aaron Ramsey has been at Arsenal for nearly ten years, and the fact that he is leaving for free shows how awful Arsenal have been in the transfer market.

Ramsey has been used as an impact sub all season, getting 2 goals and 6 assists this season. Even though he’s leaving this summer, he still shows 100% effort and is playing better than most players in the club. I felt Ramsey deserved a contract extension after the North London Derby when he came on and won us the game. He showed his passion for the club and knows what it means to wear the badge. Playing for the club his whole professional career, allowing him to leave for free is a huge mistake.

Ramsey won Arsenal’s player of the season last season, scoring 11 goals and getting 9 assists in all competitions from midfield. He’s a goal scoring midfielder and if it weren’t for the injuries he’s received throughout his career, he could probably be one of the best midfielders in world. With Arsenal being run as a self-sustainable club, allowing players of Ramsey’s caliber leave for nothing is  damaging to the club as they won’t make any funds to replace a player of the same quality, if Ramsey had a better contract, he could be sold for around $40-60 million. With Danny Welbeck leaving for free with his contract expiring at the end of season as well, I hope this is the last season that Arsenal allow crucial players to leave the club for absolutely nothing due to our self-sustainable model.
