North London Derby Ends In a Exciting Draw: Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

The North London Derby never fails to disappoint, as Spurs and the Gunners drew 2-2 in a eventful clash. Spurs took an early lead 10 minutes in after a brilliant counter attack gave Christian Eriksen his 50th goal for the club, being the first player in Spur’s history to reach 50+ goals and 50+ assists. Both Arsenal Center backs Sokratis and David Luiz were high up the pitch out of position and were punished by the Danish midfielder who taps the ball in after it’s reflected to him by Leno.

Arsenal dominate the rest of the half with Spurs attacking them on the counter and in the 40th minute Spurs take a 0-2 lead. Granit Xhaka recklessly tackles Heung- Min Son in the box from a corner kick and Spurs are awarded a penalty. Kane sends Leno the wrong way and adds to his tally of being the top scorer in the North London Derby.

Arsenal were desperate for a goal in the first half and in the last minute Alexandre Lacazette gives the gunners hope scoring a brilliant goal. Pepe sends him a pass down the middle and Lacazette takes it down and scores a rocket shot with his left foot.  First half ends Arsenal 1-2 Tottenham with both sides playing brilliantly. Spurs focusing on their defense to be able to stop the front three from damaging them, and then using their pacey forwards to hit Arsenal’s defensive weak point in the counter attack has allowed the side be up.  With lack of creativity in the midfield, Emery needed to make change soon.

In the second half Dani Ceballos entered the game in the 63rd minute and caused immediate impact nearly scoring a goal from distance withing 2 minutes.  Lacazette seemed to have gotten a knock not much longer and was subbed off for Henrick Mkhitaryan, a big miss for the gunners with their player of the season last year coming off.

The tempo of the game begins to slow down but in the 71st minute Arsenal score to make it 2-2! Matteo Guendouzi gives an excellent ball over the top of the Spurs defense and nobody else other than Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang was there to tap it in past Lloris. It’s tied up now and Arsenal are starting to take over the game.

Arsenal get a disallowed goal ruled offside after they score superb goal from a free kick play. Kolasinac was ruled offside before he crossed it down the box and Sokratis goal was disallowed. Big blow for Arsenal.

The game ends 2-2 with both teams walking away with a point. The North London Derby never fails to excite, and continues to show it’s the best rivalry in England. Goals, reckless challenges, drama, bookings, defensive errors it has it all.
