Charlotte Hornets Draft Lamelo Ball

With the third pick in the 2020 NBA Draft the Charlotte Hornets pick Lamelo Ball. Ball plays as a point guard and spent last season playing with the Illawarra Hawks in Australia. At point guard Ball averaged 17 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, and 6.8 assists per game.

The Hornets will now have another option at point guard with Ball who will most likely be ahead of their current starting point guard in Terry Rozier. Ball will also bring more publicity to the franchise, something that’s been missing since the departure of all-star Kemba Walker in 2019, the Hornets all time leading scorer.

Although the Hornets main priority should’ve been a center, James Wiseman ended up being drafted by the Warriors as the second overall pick. Wiseman is a 7′ 11″ center who would’ve been a perfect player for the Hornets to build around, but after the Warriors drafted him they couldn’t miss out on Ball.

With the introduction of Lamelo Ball, the Hornets are building a young exciting team to look forwards to in the future with the likes of PJ Washington, Devonte Grahm, and Miles Bridges who won Most Valuable Player in the 2020 NBA Rising Stars game. If the team gels in together and builds some chemistry, it won’t be long until we see Buzz City qualify for the playoff for the first time since the 2016 season.
